The 2023 "The Sun Also Rises" Chardonnay from Summer Dreams Winesis a vibrant expression of Sonoma Coast terroir, crafted by renowned winemaker Jayson Woodbridge—best known for his Hundred Acre label—and winemaker Ashley Holland. This vintage reflects their commitment to producing site-specific, meticulously crafted wines that embody the spirit of California's coastal vineyards.
Tasting Notes
This Chardonnay opens with aromas of Meyer lemon crème, white donut peach, and caramelized pineapple, intertwined with notes of baked Gravenstein apples and butterscotch, all wrapped in a subtle brioche undertone. On the palate, it offers a rich mouthfeel with a foundation of wet slate, unfolding to flavors of ginger, yuzu, and nectarine, culminating in exuberant acidity and an intriguing length.
Vineyard & Winemaking
The grapes are sourced from the Heintz Vineyard and the Summer Dreams Estate Vineyard, both located on hilltop sites with clay-rich soils that retain moisture during the growing season. These conditions contribute to a rich, fruit-driven Chardonnay with a crisp, mineral-rich mid-palate and finish.
