Origins & Craftsmanship

This bourbon begins as a Kentucky straight bourbon, matured in new American white-oak barrels for a standard period of aging, before being transferred into specially selected rum casks—originally used for Gosling’s Family Reserve rum in Bermuda—for an additional finishing period (about 15 months). These rum casks had themselves contained rum aged for 16-20 years, creating a layered barrel history. The result is bourbon with the integrity of tradition, enriched by the character of rum-wood influence. It is bottled at 45.1% ABV (90.2 proof) under the Jefferson’s Reserve label.

Tasting Profile

Nose: Rich and inviting—molasses, ripe banana, crusty sour-dough bread, caramelized sugar, and warm vanilla bean. A sweet rum-like top-note greets the glass.
Palate: Smooth entry with honeyed corn sweetness, toffee, dark chocolate ganache, cinnamon spice and ripe tropical fruit (pineapple, banana). The rum cask influence provides a gentle molasses/treacle character layered on mature bourbon oak.
Finish: Medium-to-long and warm, with lingering vanilla, toasted marshmallow, soft allspice and a subtle echo of tropical fruit and melted chocolate. The finish remains elegant rather than overly aggressive.
