A daring venture from Kaiyō Spirits, this expression is aged for over 7 years in first-fill Japanese Kuri (chestnut) wood casks, one of the first whiskies to take this approach. After maturation, casks embark on a traditional 90-day maritime journey, adding subtle maritime character before final bottling. It's crafted from 100% malted barley whisky, bottled un-chillfiltered at 46% ABV.
Nose: Creamy and fruity, with uplifting aromas of orange zest, lime juice, white pear, and peppery spice, intertwined with gentle floral echoes.
Palate: Luxuriously textured—think vanilla shortbread, citrus segments, kiwi, persimmon, honey, with warming layers of clove and ground ginger rounding out the profile.
Finish: Long and refined, with sweet fruit notes gently lingering while the chestnut’s woody warmth and spice softly fade.
