This release from Lux Row Distillers (Bardstown, Kentucky) is built on the concept of “double single barrels”: one single barrel from their wheated mashbill and one from their rye mashbill are selected and blended together to create a four-grain expression (corn, wheat, rye, malted barley). Both barrels were filled in 2018 and aged a minimum of four years. Each bottle includes the specific barrel numbers and fill dates of both barrels used.

Tasting Profile

• Nose: The aroma opens with caramel and vanilla over a warm oak bed, with hints of citrus zest and gentle grain sweetness. As it opens further, there’s an herbal/earthy note, fresh grass and a touch of dried fruit.

• Palate: Rich and bold, bringing caramel and vanilla upfront, then shifts into baking spice (cinnamon, a touch of ginger) and dry oak tannins. The wheated component softens the texture while the rye mash gives a noticeable kick of pepper and spice mid-palate.
