The Lucky Cat series is a genuinely heartfelt, ongoing tradition at Hombo Shuzo — a collection of blended whiskies built around the real cats living with the company's own president, k. Hombo, each release capturing a specific cat's (or, here, cats') personality directly in the blend. Choco & Luna is the twelfth release in the series, and its origin story is genuinely candid and touching, straight from Hombo himself: "Choco, who turns nine this April, and Luna, who turned five last autumn, share a love for the outdoors. However, Luna prefers her own space unless necessary, while Choco is constantly clinging to people for affection. Recently, the relationship between these two unique personalities has become a bit strained." He goes on to note something genuinely poignant: "after our elder, May, passed away last March, and Solla joined our feline community in June, I wonder if the change in members has affected the overall group dynamic...?"
That real, ongoing household dynamic is translated directly into the whisky's own character — Hombo's own hope is that Choco and Luna "can live together in harmony, just like this whisky, where the sweet aromas are tightened and balanced by a wild finish."
