The RCLR line from Rare Character is the brand’s most ambitious series: limited-edition batches composed of specially selected barrels from American rickhouses, sourced from top distilleries and matured with firsthand curation. Batch 6 is a straight rye whiskey drawn from barrels distilled in Kentucky and Indiana, aged approximately 6.9 to 9.3 years, and bottled at 123.6 proof (~61.8% ABV). It comes as a limited release, with a bottle count of just 2,580 for the batch. The components are thoughtfully married to emphasize rye grain, oak intensity and bold spice.
Nose: An assertive aroma of caramelized brown sugar, toasted oak, dark cherry and cinnamon bark opens the glass. Underneath are layers of aged leather, vanilla bean and rickhouse earth.
Palate: Full-bodied and rich, the initial sweetness gives way to intense rye grain, black pepper, nutmeg and dark maple. Mid-palate reveals dark fruit (perhaps dried cherry or raisin), vanilla and toasted oak notes that bring weight and complexity.
