PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Rhum Clément Canne Bleue Rhum Blanc Agricole Martinique is one of the most distinctive white rums produced in the Caribbean. Crafted from a single variety of sugarcane known as Canne Bleue (Blue Cane), it delivers an intense expression of fresh cane, citrus zest, and herbal freshness. Bottled at a robust 50% ABV, it offers vibrant purity and aromatic depth—making it a favorite for sipping neat, preparing traditional Ti’ Punch, or building bright Caribbean cocktails.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Rhum Clément is produced at Habitation Clément in Le François, Martinique, a historic estate founded in 1887 by Homère Clément, a key figure in the development of Martinique’s rhum agricole tradition.
Unlike most rum, which is distilled from molasses, rhum agricole is made directly from freshly pressed sugarcane juice, preserving the natural vegetal and mineral character of the cane.
The Canne Bleue expression is particularly unique because it is produced from a single variety of blue-tinged sugarcane, making it one of the world’s first monovarietal rums. The cane is harvested and pressed quickly to retain its aromatic intensity before fermentation and distillation.
The fermented cane juice is distilled in a Creole column still, the traditional still used in Martinique’s agricole rum production. After distillation, the rum is rested for roughly six months in stainless steel tanks and slowly proofed down with pure water before bottling at 50% ABV.
The rum carries the prestigious AOC Martinique designation, which certifies strict regional standards governing sugarcane origin, fermentation, distillation, and bottling practices.
Critics Reviews
VinePair – 92 Points
VinePair praised the rum’s expressive character, highlighting aromas of cucumber water, wet grass, and powdered sugar with peppery tropical fruit on the palate.
There are otherwise few widely published numeric scores from major spirits publications, though the rum is widely praised for its vivid agricole character and bartending versatility.
