Ridge has made Geyserville as a single-site Zinfandel every single year since 1966, and the wine's history runs directly through the Trentadue family — Leo and Evelyn Trentadue sold the Monte Bello Winery to Ridge's four founding partners, and Ridge's original purchase of fruit from the oldest vines on the Trentadue's Sonoma ranch, on the southern edge of the Geyserville township, gave birth to the very first Geyserville vintage. That close relationship continues today, and some of the vineyard's vines now exceed 130 years of age, grown across three adjoining vineyards on a defined stretch of gravelly soil roughly 1.25 miles long and half a mile wide, on the western edge of Alexander Valley. The 2024 vintage marks a genuine labeling milestone: for the first time, Ridge added "Vineyard" to the front label specifically to distinguish the historic Geyserville Vineyard from the town of Geyserville itself.
The 2024 growing season began with a rainy winter and mild spring, followed by a warm summer that advanced ripening — harvest began early, on August 30th, and wrapped up by September 14th. The blend runs 71% Zinfandel, 19% Carignane, 8% Petite Sirah, and a touch of Alicante Bouschet, aged 13 months in American oak. The resulting wine has earned an extraordinary sweep of critical acclaim. Wilfred Wong of Wine.com awarded a remarkable 98 Points — the standout score of the year across Ridge's entire lineup. Vinous Media's Billy Norris scored it 96 Points, tasting from tank prior to bottling and calling it "one of the very best Geyservilles I've ever tasted... weightless and elegant but supremely concentrated and packed to the gills with intense flavor. Rich blue fruit, incense, crushed rocks and deeply pitched spice tones march with gravitas from open to close. What a sensational edition of this wine."
Zinfandel Chronicles' Tom Lee matched that with 96 Points, and OwenBargreen.com also awarded 96 Points, describing "layers of milk chocolate and roasted dates alongside shades of espresso grounds with loganberry compote notes," the palate "plush, round and generous with a tremendous sense of salty tension and weight." James Suckling's Jim Gordon scored it 95 Points, while both Wine Spectator's Tim Fish and Decanter's Clive Pursehouse awarded 94 Points. Ridge's own winemaker notes describe raspberry, vanilla, and licorice on the nose, with a palate of focused black cherry, nutmeg, subtle tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish. Independent journalist Laurie Daniel found it "ripe and plush, yet offering nice freshness and balance," with flavors leaning "toward blackberry, raspberry, mocha and baking spice." This is one of the most celebrated single vintages in Geyserville's nearly sixty-year history — now available in this substantial 3-liter format.
Geyserville is Ridge Vineyards' storied single-site Zinfandel bottling, produced every year without interruption since 1966. The wine's history traces directly to the Trentadue family, who sold the Monte Bello Winery to Ridge's four founding partners; Ridge's subsequent purchase of fruit from the oldest vines on the Trentadue's Sonoma ranch launched the first Geyserville vintage. The vineyard today draws fruit from three adjoining sites on a defined stretch of gravelly soil approximately 1.25 miles long and half a mile wide, on the western edge of Alexander Valley — some of the vines now exceed 130 years of age. The 2024 vintage marks the first release to feature "Vineyard" added to the front label, specifically distinguishing the historic Geyserville Vineyard from the nearby town of the same name.
The 2024 growing season opened with a rainy winter and mild spring, followed by a warm summer that advanced ripening; harvest began early, on August 30th, and concluded by September 14th. The wine is a traditional field blend of Zinfandel and its complementary varieties — 71% Zinfandel, 19% Carignane, 8% Petite Sirah, and 2% Alicante Bouschet — aged 13 months in American oak. Grapes are hand-harvested and organically farmed, fermented with indigenous yeast and naturally occurring malolactic bacteria.

Billy Norris, Vinous Media — 96 Points:
"Tasted from tank just prior to bottling, the 2024 Geyserville is one of the very best Geyservilles I've ever tasted. It's weightless and elegant but supremely concentrated and packed to the gills with intense flavor. Rich blue fruit, incense, crushed rocks and deeply pitched spice tones march with gravitas from open to close. What a sensational edition of this wine. I can't wait to taste it from bottle."

Owen Bargreen, OwenBargreen.com — 96 Points:
"The 2024 'Geyserville' combines 71% Zinfandel with 19% Carignane and 8% Petite Sirah with a touch of Alicante. On the nose this takes on layers of milk chocolate and roasted dates alongside shades of espresso grounds with loganberry compote notes. The palate is plush, round and generous with a tremendous sense of salty tension and weight." Drink 2026-2042.

Ridge Vineyards (official winemaker's note):
"Raspberry, vanilla and licorice on the nose. Palate of focused black cherry, nutmeg, subtle tannins, balanced acidity and a long finish."
Laurie Daniel on Wine (independent journalist):
"Ripe and plush, yet offers nice freshness and balance. The flavors lean toward blackberry, raspberry, mocha and baking spice, and there's a persistent finish."
Nose
Raspberry, vanilla, and licorice lead, joined by layers of milk chocolate and roasted dates, alongside espresso grounds and loganberry compote. Rich blue fruit and incense add further depth, with crushed rocks and deeply pitched spice.
Palate
Plush, round, and generous, with a tremendous sense of salty tension and weight. Focused black cherry and nutmeg carry the mid-palate, joined by blackberry, raspberry, mocha, and baking spice, with subtle tannins and balanced acidity.
Finish
Long and persistent, weightless yet supremely concentrated, closing with the same gravitas that carries the wine from open to close — a genuinely sensational finish reflecting Geyserville's ancient vines and near-six-decade legacy.
