Schmitt Söhne is a genuine family institution in the Mosel — founded in 1919 by Hilar Schmitt as a small regional winery in the village of Longuich, and now guided by five generations of the Schmitt family, all focused on producing Riesling, Germany's own signature grape, while expanding to import award-winning wines around the world. Through every generation, the family's stated principle has remained the same: crafting genuinely world-class Riesling, reflecting real quality and care from the very first picking in the vineyard all the way to the table.
This Spätlese is sourced from the vineyards around Piesport, a village along the Mosel known for its perilously steep, sun-soaked hillsides — terrain that concentrates ripeness and flavor in the fruit even as it makes the vineyard work genuinely demanding. Made entirely from fully ripened Riesling, harvested at Spätlese level, above the more everyday Kabinett tier on Germany's traditional Prädikat ripeness scale.

The wine is made entirely from fully ripened Riesling, harvested from vineyards around Piesport, known for their steep, well-exposed slate hillsides along the Mosel. Bottled at 8.5% ABV, 750ml.
