Part of the Four Seasons collections at Shiki Distillery, this Japanese blended whisky is inspired by the cold nights during Japanese winter. Bottled at 80 proof, this rich and deep expression is perfect for sipping on a cold night.

A brand-new venture, Shiki Distillery is located in the Hyogo Prefecture, just northwest of Osaka, Japan. Famous for its pristine nature, waters and mountains, the region is also the home of the best rice wine in Japan, Yamada Nishiki. Like many distilleries just starting out and preparing to distill their own spirits, Shiki Distillery began by curating and blending spirits from other producers – the best of Japan. Offering a collection of aged and unaged malt whiskies as well as blended whisky, the Four Seasons expressions are their first releases. The word “Shiki” means “four seasons” in Japanese and the four whiskies are intended to reflect the character of four seasons in Japan.

In Japan, winter nights get cold and it’s not unusual for temperatures to drop below zero. Inspired by Japanese winters and all becoming traditions to keep warm, Shunka Shuto Winter Japanese Blended Whisky is the richer and deeper expression of this collection. A blend of Japanese whiskies, which are curated and then married in white oak to age, this sumptuous sipper is bottled at 80 proof. The nose greets with notes of deep caramel while the palate is rich with powerful maltiness. The perfect whisky to sip on cold nights.

"In December, the temperature drops and it gets cold quickly. By the end of December, it is very cold, and it is not uncommon for it to fall below freezing from January to the beginning of March. There is not much snow on the Pacific side which usually has continuous sunny but cold days. There is a New Year’s tradition to eat soba noodles just before the year changes. The last day of the year is called "Omisoka.” "Oshogatsu," the Japanese New Year continues for seven days beginning January 1st and the people celebrate by eating New Year’s cuisine called, "Osechi" and drinking alcohol.
