The GlenAllachie 2015 Single Cask Pedro Ximénez Hogshead 10451 700ml — ImpEx Exclusive

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a genuine single cask, drawn entirely from one Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead — Cask #10451 — distilled at GlenAllachie on August 10, 2015, and bottled a full decade later in May 2026. Unlike GlenAllachie's celebrated batch-blended Cask Strength series, which combines multiple cask types into a single vatting, this release carries the character of just one barrel from start to finish, yielding a genuinely scarce outturn of only 358 bottles worldwide. Selected as an ImpEx Exclusive, it's part of a long-running relationship between ImpEx Beverages and Master Distiller Billy Walker, who has personally hand-picked numerous single-cask GlenAllachie selections specifically for the US market.

Ten full years in a Pedro Ximénez hogshead is genuinely serious sherry-cask time, and the results show it: PX sherry is made from very ripe white grapes, air-dried to concentrate their natural sugars before fermentation, producing a dark, thick, intensely sweet style renowned for imparting dark fruit, chocolate, and baking spice character to whatever it touches. A full decade of contact with that wood has given Cask #10451 a genuinely dessert-like richness and full-bodied intensity, bottled entirely uncut at a robust 63.4% ABV (126.8 proof).

The Barrel Tap's official tasting notes describe "rich raisins, dried figs, dark berries, treacle, cocoa, and warming oak spice" on the nose, developing on the palate into "dark fruit, caramelized sugar, chocolate, baking spice, and layers of sherry-driven sweetness," closing "long and warming with lingering dried fruit, cocoa, sweet spice, and structured oak." For genuine house-style context, GlenAllachie's celebrated Cask Strength batches — which regularly blend PX sherry alongside Oloroso, red wine, and virgin oak — consistently earn praise for exactly this kind of layered, dark-fruit-driven richness; a single cask given the full decade in pure PX wood pushes that intensity considerably further. This is genuinely rare, hand-selected whisky — one specific barrel, one specific outturn, and once it's gone, there's no reproducing it.

Origins & Craftsmanship

GlenAllachie Distillery was founded in 1967 at the foot of Ben Rinnes, near Aberlour in Speyside, originally built to supply blended Scotch whisky. In 2017, the distillery was acquired by Billy Walker, Graham Stevenson, and Trisha Savage, forming The GlenAllachie Distillers Company Limited, and relaunched as a distillery celebrated in its own right for rich, fruity single malt expressions. GlenAllachie draws its water from sources on Ben Rinnes and is known for its genuinely wide-ranging use of cask types — ex-bourbon, sherry, wine, virgin oak, and beyond — under Walker's exacting, hands-on cask management.

This release is drawn entirely from Cask #10451, a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, distilled August 10, 2015, and bottled in May 2026 after a full 10 years of maturation, yielding only 358 bottles. Selected as an ImpEx Exclusive, the whisky was chosen specifically for the US market, continuing a long-running partnership between Billy Walker and ImpEx Beverages for hand-picked GlenAllachie single casks. Bottled non-chill filtered, in natural colour, at cask strength — 63.4% ABV / 126.8 proof.

The Barrel Tap (official tasting notes):
"The GlenAllachie 2015 Single Cask Pedro Ximenez Hogshead Scotch Whisky is an exceptionally limited Speyside single malt drawn entirely from Cask #10451. Distilled on August 10, 2015 and bottled in May 2026, this 10-year-old whisky was matured in a Pedro Ximénez hogshead, developing the deep fruit, dessert-like richness, oak spice, and full-bodied character associated with PX-seasoned wood. Bottled at a powerful 63.4% ABV (126.8 proof), the cask produced an outturn of just 358 bottles. Nose: Rich raisins, dried figs, dark berries, treacle, cocoa, and warming oak spice. Palate: Full-bodied with dark fruit, caramelized sugar, chocolate, baking spice, and layers of Sherry-driven sweetness. Finish: Long and warming with lingering dried fruit, cocoa, sweet spice, and structured oak."
