Origins & Craftsmanship
Produced in the Scottish Highlands, Tomatin matured this whisky for 14 years and then finished it in Tawny Port casks that had held Port wine for approximately 50 years. The initial maturation uses a combination of American-bourbon barrels and the Port casks, allowing the spirit’s natural fruit character to shine while gaining richness from the wine-cask influence. It is bottled at 46% ABV, with natural colour and without chill-filtration, preserving the full texture and flavour profile.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Opens with red berries (raspberry, strawberry), sweet honey, rich toffee and ripe orchard fruit (pear, baked apple). A gentle nutty note (almond or walnut) lies beneath.
Palate: Medium bodied and smooth: flavours of plum, mango, apricot, mixed nuts join honeysuckle or honeyed malt, and a subtle oak spice emerges — cinnamon or soft ginger.
Finish: The finish is warm and lingering but not heavy. Fruit-salad sweetness (mixed berries and stone-fruit), soft toffee, and a touch of dark chocolate or nut-skin persist as the oak gently fades.
