PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Vérizet takes its name directly from the ancient Châtellenie de Vérizet, the historic feudal domain whose slopes in the Mâconnais have shaped the estate's winemaking for generations. The 2021 vintage is made entirely from Chardonnay, sourced from plots averaging 10 to 40 years old, on limestone clay-loam soil in the heart of Viré and Clessé — two communes widely regarded as among the finest in the entire Mâconnais, lending the appellation its own name.

The producer's own tasting notes describe a "yellow hue with golden glints," the nose opening "with citrus-tinged notes that gradually make way for a bouquet of white florals (lime blossom, acacia)," the palate "round and full-bodied," carrying "all the flavours of juicy white fruits (pear, peach)." An independent retailer's tasting calls it "a textbook example of quality village-level Mâcon," where "fragrance, minerality, and clean thirst-quenching citrus coalesce for a wine that is medium weight and versatile enough for any month of the year," noting "notes of lemongrass, almond, and zesty lemon contribute to a level of complexity that over-delivers for the price point." The estate's own recommended pairings are genuinely extensive — tapas, Iberian ham, salmon, white meat, seafood, frogs' legs, snails, andouillette sausage, Burgundy parsley ham terrine, curry, Bresse chicken in cream sauce, goat's cheese, Epoisses, and fruit tart. This is genuinely honest, well-made village-level white Burgundy — real minerality and freshness from two of the Mâconnais's most respected communes.

Vérizet (official tasting note):
"Yellow hue with golden glints. The nose opens with citrus-tinged notes that gradually make way for a bouquet of white florals (lime blossom, acacia). Round and full-bodied on the palate, this wine contains all the flavours of juicy white fruits (pear, peach)."

Sweetaji (extended retailer tasting note):
"The Verizet is a textbook example of quality village-level Macon — fragrance, minerality, and clean thirst-quenching citrus coalesce for a wine that is medium weight and versatile enough for any month of the year. Notes of lemon grass, almond, and zesty lemon contribute to a level of complexity that over-delivers for the price point."

Vintage 38 Greendale (house-style note):
"Playful and serious at the same time, generous with richness in fruit, yet clean and minerally. Peachy-pear, citrus and lime blossom."
