This 10-year age-stated release marks a major milestone for Westland Distillery—bold yet refined, expressive yet balanced. With its decade of maturation, the Garryana 10th Edition showcases the depth and craftsmanship that American single malt can achieve. For the serious enthusiast, it is a standout pour; for the collector, a defining expression of place and oak.
Westland Distillery in Seattle, Washington, sources 100% malted barley and employs its signature multi-malt grain bill—combining the house “Signature Five Malt” with Washington Pale Malts. The Garryana 10th Edition is matured for a full 10 years, its first age-statement release, and features a unique cask composition: native Pacific Northwest Garry Oak (Quercus garryana) first- and second-fill, supported by Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads, rum barriques and ex-bourbon barrels. Bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) and non-chill-filtered, it reflects the distillery’s commitment to terroir, craft and native wood.
Eric Hasman of Breaking Bourbon described it as “complex and bold, beginning with strawberry, apple, raspberry, walnut and orange peel on the nose; the palate traverses cocoa, clove, charred oak, graham cracker and hardened walnut, finishing with chocolate malt and blood orange.”
Charles Steele of The Whiskey Wash awarded it a 9/10, writing: “A watershed moment for the distillery—dark straw in color, notes of mulled wine, clove, walnut fudge brownie and lemon Danish pastry lead into s’mores, dehydrated strawberry, toasted cumin and blood orange on the palate.”
Coverage in Food & Wine noted: “This 10-year Garryana is the distillery’s first age-statement bottle and a celebration of their native oak program—spice, fruit and confection-like richness define it.”
Nose: Dark amber hue in the glass. Aromas of mulled wine, cinnamon-clove spice, walnut-fudge brownie, lemon Danish pastry and toasted malt.
Palate: Full-bodied and richly layered—s’mores, dehydrated strawberry, toasted cumin seed, blood orange rind, charred oak and a deep malt core.
Finish: Long and warming; chocolate-malt tones, marshmallow sweetness, graham-cracker crust, and a lingering spice of walnut, all framed by roasted oak and faint citrus zest.
