PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Yellowstone Bourbon carries genuine, unbroken history — the brand launched in 1872, named for the newly founded national park, and by the 1960s had become the top-selling whiskey in the entire state of Kentucky, bottled back then at six years old. Small Batch 107 is Yellowstone's own deliberate callback to that exact era, crafted by seventh-generation Founder and Master Distiller Stephen Beam specifically to bring back a genuine age statement and a proof point built for real flavor. As Beam himself put it: "I wanted to bring back that tradition and offer a product with a clear age statement, and the perfect entry level proof point at 107. This is a long time coming. We've had great success with special finishes but never had an age-stated product before Small Batch."

This is genuinely the only expression in the current Yellowstone lineup to carry an age statement on the label, and the highest proof bourbon to come out of the Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky. Non-chill filtration was a deliberate choice too — Beam explained that "the higher proof brings out more flavors, and by non-chill filtering Small Batch we created a much more full-bodied product than a lower-proof chill filtered bourbon."

Independent reviewers have responded with genuine enthusiasm, especially given the price. The Whiskey Jar's tasting found "the mouthfeel is thick and oily, coating your mouth and delivering real depth," with "the Beam yeast character... absolutely present but well-integrated, adding complexity without overwhelming the bourbon's natural fruit notes," concluding at its roughly $43 price point that it's "an absolute bargain." Breaking Bourbon's review found the nose "surprisingly light for the proof, offering gentle notes of caramel, yellow corn, oak, baking spices, and marshmallow," with the palate delivering "vanilla, honey, caramel, and light oak, along with a notable pop of spicy oak" that carries into "a striking spice concoction" on the finish, combining "black pepper, spicy pepper, and rye spice." The Whiskey Reviewer found "benchmark bourbon" character with "caramel and honey, plus a little maraschino cherry," the finish opening "peppery and a touch woody" before fading "down to the point where the honey could reemerge," calling it "a good sipping pour." The official tasting notes describe "salted caramel, chocolate, vanilla, raw walnuts and oak" on the nose, developing into "intensified flavors of caramel, oak, honey and Yellowstone's signature rich cherry notes." This is genuinely well-crafted, historically resonant bourbon — bold enough for neat sipping, versatile enough for cocktails, at a genuinely accessible price.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Yellowstone Bourbon was launched in 1872, taking its name from the newly founded national park, and became the top-selling whiskey in Kentucky during the 1960s, when it was bottled at six years old. The brand was revived in 2015 by Steven Beam and Limestone Branch Distillery, which was later acquired by Luxco, itself subsequently acquired by MGP.

Small Batch 107 was crafted by seventh-generation Founder and Master Distiller Stephen Beam specifically to bring back Yellowstone's original six-year age statement and a genuine entry-level cask-strength proof point. It is bottled uncut without chill filtration, at 107 proof — the highest-proof bourbon produced at the Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky — and remains the only expression in Yellowstone's current lineup to carry an age statement on its label.

Critics Reviews

Breaking Bourbon (extended independent review):
"The nose is surprisingly light for the proof, offering gentle notes of caramel, yellow corn, oak, baking spices, and marshmallow. The palate is on the simple side, with vanilla, honey, caramel, and light oak, along with a notable pop of spicy oak. This spice continues into the finish and gets amplified. Combined with black pepper, spicy pepper, and rye spice, Yellowstone Bourbon Small Batch 107 finishes with a striking spice concoction."

The Whiskey Reviewer (extended independent review):
"The flavor was again benchmark bourbon to start, with caramel and honey, plus a little maraschino cherry. The finish opened peppery and a touch woody, but faded down to the point where the honey could reemerge. Yellowstone Small Batch Bourbon offers a good sipping pour."

Stephen Beam, Founder & Master Distiller, Yellowstone Bourbon:
"Yellowstone was the top selling whiskey in Kentucky in the 1960s, and at the time, it was bottled at six years old. I wanted to bring back that tradition and offer a product with a clear age statement, and the perfect entry level proof point at 107."

Yellowstone Bourbon (official tasting notes):
"Notes of caramel and vanilla with hints of chocolate and oak on the nose, Small Batch features intensified flavors of caramel, oak, honey and Yellowstone's signature rich cherry notes."
