PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Wyomng Buffalo Bill Cody 6-Year-Old Bourbon is a bold, frontier-driven whiskey that blends wheat-bourbon smoothness with high-altitude maturation character. With notes of leather, dark cherry, and caramel underpinned by Wyoming climate-age complexity, it’s an adventurous pour that rewards serious sipping.
Distilled by Wyoming Whiskey in Kirby, Wyoming, this special limited-edition bourbon honors the legendary frontiersman Buffalo Bill Cody. It is aged for 6 years in Wyoming’s rickhouses, using locally-grown grains and wild climate fluctuations (swings in temperature) to deepen barrel interaction. The bottling is limited (just 26 barrels) and presented at 97 proof (48.5% ABV), emphasising both craft origins and serious flavor intensity.
Critic Jordan Moskal (from Breaking Bourbon) describes the nose as “fresh oak, leather, vanilla, brown sugar, nougat, cinnamon syrup,” and the palate as “spiced caramel, chewy oak, cinnamon cake, burnt brown sugar, baking spices.” He notes that while the bourbon “honors the Wild West in spirit,” it is much smoother than the rugged imagery suggests.
Reviewer Drew Beard (from Drinkhacker) writes that the bourbon is “light on the palate but not thin, with a pleasant gingery warmth,” and highlights flavors of dark cherry and cocoa powder evolving into toffee, lemon-drop and almond brittle before finishing in tobacco and oak dryness.
Critic Charles Steele (for The Whiskey Wash) gave the whiskey a rating of “8/10,” citing its “wheat-bourbon profile with spice, leather and orange fruit,” while calling the finish “balanced with bright hints of oak, wheat and orange.”
These evaluations indicate that Buffalo Bill Cody 6-Year is well-crafted, delivers character and maturity for a six-year bourbon, and stands out among craft bourbons from high-altitude climates.
Nose: Saddle leather and new boots, layered with vanilla, brown sugar, nougat, cinnamon syrup and oak tannin.
Palate: Entry of spiced caramel and chewy oak, cinnamon-cake spice, burnt brown sugar, dark cherry, cocoa powder and subtle lemon-drop brightness; mid-palate shows almond brittle and toffee.
Finish: Tobacco leaf, dry oak, black peppercorn spice, drier wheat-bourbon grain character, and a faint recall of fruit-cocktail syrup fading into a western twilight dryness.
