PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Springbank is one of the very last distilleries anywhere in Scotland that does absolutely everything itself — traditional floor malting, distillation, maturation, and bottling, all performed on-site in Campbeltown, without a single stage outsourced. The 15 Year Old, matured predominantly in quality sherry casks, has built a reputation over the years as one of the most consistently celebrated expressions in the entire Springbank range — a whisky that Wine-Searcher's own aggregate places at 94 points, and that Whisky Advocate has called "a masterpiece," writing that "all the classic Springbank elements merge nicely here."
The 2026 Release, part of the June 2026 outturn, opens with rich layers of dried fruits, figs, raisins, and dark chocolate — the unmistakable signature of genuinely fine sherry cask maturation — complemented by toasted walnuts, warming spice, and polished oak. Demerara sugar, Christmas cake, and almonds add further depth, alongside toffee. On the palate: a luxurious texture carries dried fruit, cocoa, Demerara sugar, and roasted nuts, with hints of earthy smoke and leather developing alongside the oak influence — creamy, layered with raisins, dark chocolate, figs, marzipan, brazil nuts, and vanilla. The finish is long and warming, closing with lingering spice, walnut, and the distinctly maritime, Campbeltown character that no other whisky region can quite replicate.
Whisky Advocate's broader assessment of the expression captures its complexity well: "the complex, understated bouquet finds aromas of barley malt, seaweed, heather, oaky vanilla, honey, sherry cask, scrambled egg and minerals. The palate is rounded and rich, with more tropical fruits, sherry, caramel, pipe tobacco, wood smoke, and spicy tannins. The finish is relatively long and creamy, with lingering smokiness." Master of Malt's community has called it "one of the best sherried whiskies out there — oily, fruity and with perfect balance," with more than 35,000 five-star reviews behind the range. Whether you're a longtime devotee of Springbank or exploring one of Scotland's most quietly celebrated distilleries for the first time, the 2026 Release stands as a genuine, uncompromising example of what a fully independent, fully traditional Campbeltown single malt can be.
Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland, remains one of the very few distilleries in the country that performs every stage of production on-site — traditional floor malting, distillation, maturation, and bottling, all under one roof, without outsourcing any part of the process. The 15 Year Old expression is matured predominantly in quality sherry casks, an approach that has made it a longstanding favourite among whisky enthusiasts and collectors worldwide, showcasing the distinctive maritime, richly sherried character that defines Springbank's house style.
This 2026 Release is part of the distillery's June 2026 outturn, bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and presented in its natural colour — the same uncompromising presentation standard Springbank applies across its entire range. Wine-Searcher's critic aggregate for the expression sits at 94 points across recent vintages, with individual annual releases consistently well received by both professional critics and the whisky community.
